Happy Thursday All! Today, I wanted to share my most recent DIY project. I had been wanting to make a banner for our mantel for a while now, and finally had some free time over this past long weekend. It was super easy and MAYBE took me 45 minutes…total!

First, I started by finding and printing off this template from Sweetly Scrapped Art! Then, I traced it on a natural cotton/muslin fabric and cut them out…easy!

This is where things got tricky…First, I folded down the fabric at the seam (see the template) and sewed it. Then, I quickly realized the twine wouldn’t fit, so I had to make an adjustment and hold the twine in place while I sewed the fabric down. Oh, and I didn’t have any pins to hold it in place…whoops!

Next, I cut out letters that I printed off my computer and taped them to the fabric. With a circle sponge brush, I dapped away then pulled off the “stencil.”

Who can guess which Black Friday ad I used for table protection?

And…that was it!

I hung it from our dining room mantel (along with some other knick-knacks – from TJ Maxx, white lights, and an “oh holy night” printout I made).
